he Directorate of Works nowadays is one of the institutes of Ministry of Housing and Construction that looking forward for signing some deals or subcontracts of those the ministry asked to execute in  different engineering fields. In this respect the Directorate of Works has the capability to run and supervise such deals specially those of reconstruction ones.

    Directorate of works is the successor to a group of engineering professionals long recognized, as among Iraqis finest institutes .it has the experience to plan, design, construct, supervise and maintain the most complex buildings  

This experience is , indeed , accumulated out of 70 years of work and participation in different projects inside Iraq, throughout its professional staff represented by the resident engineering offices which are widely spread all over the country . With this staff, the D. of W.has the capability to assure construction quality and control according to specification required

Specialization

    The directorate of works has an extensive knowledge and experience in management and construction quality control throughout the supervision of the works it has been dealt with by different contracts with foreign companies (private and governmental ) as shown below:

           1. The soviet technical institute.

           2. The federal directorate for supply and purchasi(FDSP).

           3. Hitachi (the famous Japanese company).

           4. Limex (German company).

           5. Steel (Italian company).

           6. Foldai (Belgium Company).

   The directorate has also dealt with many local recognized companies in different engineering fields such as multi purpose buildings, services networks, water supply, sanitary and electrical power stations in different location.
